Based on a philosophy of methodical and responsible growth, Atlas Restaurant Group builds concepts that fill a culinary and experiential void in the market. However, the goal of these properties stretches far beyond the food and beverage landscape. Atlas strives to not only offer a premiere dining experience, but also provide jobs that foster its employees to learn, grow, make an impact, and be proud of the brand they represent.

Our Story

Alex Smith with a team from Ouzo Bay Baltimore

Founded in 2010 with the opening of Harbor East Delicatessen and Pizzeria in Baltimore’s Harbor East neighborhood, Atlas Restaurant Group now includes everything from fine-dining restaurants and fast-casual concepts to historic neighborhood taverns in Maryland, Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania.

Partners Alex and Eric Smith were inspired to pursue a career in hospitality by their grandfather John Paterakis’ immense success with Baltimore’s H&S Bakery. This success was achieved through an unmatched work ethic that continues to inspire the growth of Atlas Restaurant Group.

The Smith brothers understood the value that the hospitality industry can have on cities like Baltimore, by not only offering exciting new dining options that haven’t previously existed, but also providing jobs for the community, and a sense of pride for the locals.

Culture

Principle Beliefs

Above all else, we believe in our guiding principles when leading our employees, cultivating leaders, and operating our establishments. Our Core Values and Pillars of Operation guide all employees from the top of the organization to the bottom, as we make decisions to provide the kind of unparalleled entertainment experiences that our guests have come to expect.

A Welcoming Workplace for All

The restaurant industry has always been made up of a diverse and well-represented community of individuals who bring a broad and diverse set of skills, backgrounds and life experiences together to create a team where everyone can thrive.

To ensure and promote a sense of belonging, all Atlas leaders and employees receive mandatory training on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, as well as recurring conversations from internal and external experts regarding unconscious bias, cultural awareness, corporate social responsibility and more.

Investing & Impacting

a group of people standing around a table with boxes of food.

Investing in a city or neighborhood is more than just opening a new restaurant. It means positively impacting the community for years to come through participation, cooperation and volunteerism.

As one of our Core Values states, we are an integral part of our community with a diverse and inclusive mentality towards hiring and hospitality. In addition to our monetary donations and support for hundreds of organizations and charities, Atlas leaders and employees are encouraged to participate in volunteer opportunities that are organized by our organization, such as neighborhood cleanups, grocery giveaways, youth mentorships, and much more. Our annual investment focuses on three main areas:

68% towards Community Support
21% towards Health and Wellness
11% towards Preservation and Conservation
