Traditional Chinese & Modern Innovation
Atlas Restaurant Group is thrilled to announce the name of their upcoming Chinese restaurant, Nine Tailed Fox, slated to open in The Village of Cross Keys in Spring 2025. Drawing inspiration from a powerful figure in Chinese mythology, the name reflects both the restaurant’s cultural roots and its contemporary culinary vision.
The Nine Tailed Fox is a legendary creature from Chinese folklore, known as the “Huli Jing.” This mystical being symbolizes transformation, wisdom, and longevity, and it’s often portrayed as a fox capable of developing additional tails as it grows older and gains more power and knowledge. By the time it reaches nine tails, it is said to possess near-immortal qualities, embodying magic, grace, and intelligence. This historical significance resonates with the restaurant group’s mission to offer sophisticated and evolving dining experiences while continuing to gain knowledge from each new concept that it has opened.
Nine Tailed Fox’s culinary program will be executed by Executive Chef Jeffrey Mei (Shirong Mei). Chef Mei brings 29 years of experience in leading kitchens at top restaurants such as Benny Chows, ONE Dim Sum, and Yauatcha in Houston, as well as the Sheraton Hotel in Flushing, New York. Originally from China, Mei specializes in Chinese cuisine, blending tradition with innovation. His leadership and culinary expertise will shape Nine Tailed Fox into a regional dining destination.
Currently under construction, the Nine Tailed Fox space will be highlighted by an expansive rooftop terrace that wraps around the second-floor bar, offering a scenic, elevated dining environment. The restaurant will accommodate up to 200 guests, ensuring ample seating for both lunch and dinner service. The team at Atlas Restaurant Group is dedicated to creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, where patrons can enjoy exceptional cuisine, attentive service, and a truly memorable dining experience.
Atlas Restaurant Group is once again partnering with renowned designer Patrick Sutton, who has designed many of the group’s most iconic spaces. Sutton will bring his signature flair to this project, blending modern elegance with touches of traditional Chinese design elements, creating a dining space that is both immersive and inviting.
“We are excited to introduce Nine Tailed Fox as our latest concept in Baltimore’s historic Roland Park neighborhood,” said Alex Smith, Founder and President of Atlas Restaurant Group. “We believe the historical and cultural significance of the name, combined with the restaurant’s unique design and culinary offerings, will make it a standout in the city’s dining scene.”
Stay tuned for more updates as construction progresses and a grand opening date is announced for Spring 2025.
