The Oregon Grille will temporarily close this month for a makeover of its interior and outdoor patio space.
The Hunt Valley staple, recently acquired by the Atlas Restaurant Group, will shut down for the renovation work after a last day of service on March 13, Atlas CEO Alex Smith said Wednesday.
The scope of the project will be “extensive” and is projected to cost more than $1 million, Smith said. Local designer Patrick Sutton, a frequent Atlas collaborator, will spearhead the Oregon Grille’s redesign, which will “meld the property’s rich history with its vibrant future,” according to the restaurant group.
Smith said Wednesday that design details were still being finalized. The work will include updates to the inside of the restaurant as well as a revamped patio for outdoor dining.
Oregon Grille employees will be reassigned to other Atlas Restaurant Group properties during the renovations. Smith said the restaurant group is in “big-time hiring mode” at the moment in preparation for the spring opening of outdoor dining patios at properties including Ouzo Beach, Azumi, Loch Bar and The Choptank.
“The timing works out perfect,” he said.
The Oregon Grille’s makeover is slated to be complete by this fall.
The 25-year-old restaurant sold to Atlas Restaurant Group in December for an undisclosed price. Atlas also bought the Valley Inn; state property records show the Lutherville restaurant, located in a historic former roadhouse, sold for $6.1 million. Ted Bauer, the longtime owner of both dining landmarks, is staying on as a partner and consultant as part of the deal.
Atlas took over operations at both restaurants on Jan. 1. The restaurant group isn’t planning any major changes to the Valley Inn, which marks its 100th anniversary in 2022.
