Fells Point
In one of the latest endeavors from omnipresent Atlas Restaurant Group, The Choptank anchors newly renovated Broadway Market (see below) and its owners also funded the market’s redevelopment. Despite a rocky opening reception, mixed reviews, and a dining room that could use some sound absorption stat, the seafood concept is almost guaranteed to succeed. Not only does Atlas have a following, but so does Chef Andrew Weinzirl (The Brewer’s Art, Maggie’s Farm) and its Broadway Square location is a magnet for both tourists and Fells Point residents alike. While opening a crab house in Baltimore is like starting a streaming service in 2019, one of Choptank’s partners is Billy Tserkis — owner of the venerable, waterfront restaurant Captain James Landing. Suffice it to say, this place should know how to turn out a few crushes and source some decent hardshells once summer comes back around.
